OLD TOWN. NEW ADVENTURE.

Plaza del Pasado in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park brings San Diego’s early history to life. The four-acre plaza sits at the center of San Diego's original Mexican pueblo, founded in 1821, which eventually grew into a bustling American town. Strolling storytellers in period costume, live Mariachi bands singing crowd-pleasing rendition of “Oye Como Va” by Santana, local artisans demonstrating glass blowing, shopping, and restaurants inspired by 19th century San Diego life make Plaza del Pasado unique to both tourists and locals who visit the park.

Featuring unique shops, art studios and restaurants including a frontier saloon, historic hotel dining room, and festive cantina, Plaza del Pasado translates to “Plaza of the Past” in Spanish. Its mission is to connect visitors with a better understanding and appreciation of life and commerce in San Diego as it was from 1821 to 1872. Through its living history and educational programs, Plaza del Pasado also inspires families and children of San Diego to learn about the region’s early history and beginnings through hands-on demonstrations, storytelling and other interactive opportunities.

Plaza del Pasado is located at Juan and Calhoun streets inside Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, a one-block stroll from the Old Town Trolley Station. For more, call 619-297-3100.
